Muharram 1445 Activities by Ithna Asheri Union and its Boards
The month of Muharram holds special significance in our Islamic calendar, marked by solemn commemorations and reflection on the teachings and values of Imam Hussein (AS). During this time, Ithna Asheri Union and its boards engage in a range of voluntary activities to honor the memory of historical events, promote unity, and extend support towards our communities.
The voluntary efforts made by IU and its boards stand as a testament to the enduring influence of Imam Hussein’s principles of sacrifice, justice, and compassion.
We would like to extend our appreciations to the Jamaat for allowing us the opportunity to serve our community members in the name of Imam Hussein (AS) and look forward to continue this service in the future.
Below is a brief summary of the activities carried out by our boards during this Muharram.
Activities report by IUVC
In the sacred month of Muharram, the Ithnasheri Union Volunteer Corps (IUVC) embarked on a journey of service, dedication, and unity within our community. As we reflect upon the various programs and initiatives that unfolded during this blessed month, we are humbled to share the impact of our collective efforts.
- Sabil Assistance
Throughout Muharram, the IUVC volunteers extended their support to the Sabil team, ensuring that our community members received the blessings of Imam Husayn’s (a.s) name through the distribution of Saabil.
- Mosque Duties and Discipline
Prior to Muharram, a call for volunteers was made, resulting in over 170 dedicated individuals offering their services. These volunteers were assigned to various departments, aligning their skills and preferences with respective roles. During the Majlis sessions, volunteers diligently undertook duties ranging from ushering seniors to maintaining the cleanliness and discipline within the mosque premises.
- Juloous Wheelchair Initiative
As the Juloous day approached, the IUVC initiated a Wheelchair Initiative, gathering wheelchairs from generous well-wishers. These wheelchairs played a vital role during the Juloous Walk, ensuring that our elders and differently-abled community members could participate fully. The IUVC volunteers also took the responsibility of returning the wheelchairs to our benefactors.
- Annual Majlis Event at Bagamoyo Mosque
One of our highlights was the Majlis event at Bagamoyo Mosque. This special gathering was organized by our dedicated team, bringing together members from our community and the neighboring areas. The well-organized Majlis was a proof to the unity and support of our community, with blessings and participation from all corners.
Our heartfelt gratitude extends to our dedicated KSIJ Scouts, who played an integral role in bringing the Kerbala Project to life. Their contribution to the project and their assistance in various services exemplified the unity and collaboration that defines our community. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the diligent Task Force team for their crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our events. Your dedication to maintaining a secure environment allowed attendees to engage in the remembrance of Imam Husayn (a.s) with peace of mind. Your efforts are deeply valued and cherished by all of us.
A Journey of Service and Unity
The IUVC’s journey throughout Muharram was marked by devotion, commitment, and unity. We extend our gratitude to our leaders and the Jamaat for their guidance and the opportunity to serve in various capacities. Our dedication is fueled by the love of Hazrat Abbas (AS) and the teachings of Imam Husayn (AS), and we are honored to contribute to our community in diverse ways.
