MUBALLIGHEEN COURSE # 1
The Holy Prophet (SAW) has said, “The best form of charity is for a man to gain knowledge and to teach it to a fellow brother.”
The Ladies Managing Committee (LMC) & KSIJ Tabligh Board held a comprehensive workshop for Zakireen over the course of two days, 20th and 21st May 2023.
The training started on Saturday Afternoon with an introductory speech by Syed Adeel Raza and a group discussion about “the responsibilities of Zakireen.”
Thereafter an in depth discussion of an “Effective Mubaligh” and Public Speaking Skills by Br. Akil Lalji. This mainly focused on the Top 10 lists for Public speaking and Self Development. A number of assessment activities were done over the two days and the Zakireen performed brilliantly (with always a small room for self-improvement).
The workshop ended with a powerful message from our resident Aalima Urooj Naqvi. She reinforced the fact that, “Holy Quran and Tafseer should be a part of every Majalis.” The interactive activity here was to derive lessons from Tafseer of various verses of the Holy Quran and use them effectively to discuss current issues of a community and how to solve them.
This course was one of the first trainings after 12 years and we expect to continue holding similar comprehensive workshops by experts for Zakireen to help them achieve their objectives and have a pool of the best and updated Imparters of knowledge for our community. As Imam Ali (AS) rightly said, “It is incumbent upon the knowledgeable man to act upon what he knows, then to seek to learn that which he doesn’t know.”
MUBALLIGHEEN COURSE # 2
The follow up course was held on 8th July 2023. This was for one day where Syed Adeel Raza and Aalima Urooj Naqvi discussed how to begin and end a majlis. Different rules of Ahkam and Masaib were discussed.

MAHE MUHARRAM ACTIVITIES 2023
The Ladies Managing Committee would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all the Volunteers who assisted during this Holy month of Aza. About 250 Volunteers joined hands and worked harmoniously together to serve our Community Alhamdulillah.
EVENING MAJLIS
For the first 12 days of Muharram, we held an evening majlis every day at 4PM recited by Zakira Mubina Virjee. Some of the topics discussed were:
- Traits of a negative character, excessive desires and discrimination, remedies to overcome these traits and work towards a Hussaini Lifestyle.
- Traits of weakness of patience and lack of contentment, discussion on the sabr of Imam Hussain (as) and ways to adopt patience/contentment in our lives.
- Vices of obedience to desires and going against guidance. The effects of both and how the companions of Imam Hussain (as) never relented to these.
- 4 vices discussed – negligence, overdoing things, preferring Baatil over Haqq, persisting in sin. How one trait can save us from all these evil qualities.
- Dua 8 from Sahifa Sajjadiya – next 9 vices presented and all fall under the topic of violating Haqqun Nas. How important was Haqqun Nas for Imam Hussain (as).
- On the eve of Shame Ghariba, significance and meaning of Ziyarah Nahiya was discussed.
MUHARRAM KIDS WORKSHOP
While mothers were attending the majlis, kids from 5 to 14 years of age would attend the kids workshop on the 2nd floor organized by LMC and MAZ. This year we tried to instill the etiquette of a traditional majlis where girls would begin with Hadithe Kisa, listen to a talk and end with Matam and Ziyarah. The talks covered interesting discussions on:
- The difference between need and want
- Importance of Aza & being part of the majlis
- Avoiding extravagance
- Hijab
- Beware of boredom/laziness & value time
- How important is ‘I’ showing consideration towards others (Arrogance)
- Respect and Anger, Etiquette at Mosque/Home
- Showing empathy towards others
- Social Media Validation
- Patience/Good language/Siblings Love
- Being Mindful of Allah (SWT)
- Giving back to the Community

INTERNATIONAL HAZRAT ALI ASGHAR (AS) DAY
Also known as International Hussaini Infant day. This day is commemorated in about 8000 gatherings through out Iran and 45 countries globally. Hazrat Ali Asghar (as) is also referred as Babul Hawaaij (the door of wishes) – as its been reported that people have gotten their wishes fulfilled by seeking his intercession.
Infants and young children are dressed in green clothes to give their pledge of support to the Imam of our time (ATFS). This year our program was hosted by Sr. Safia Dewji who emphasized on making a conscious vow to raise our children for the Imam of our time. We witnessed some beautiful recitation of poems and latmiyas, truly the eternal sacrifice of the young martyr Ali Asghar (as) will be remembered till the day of Judgement.
Sr. Nyamwezi Bakari and UmmeAbiha Mukhtar gave some powerful short talks on ‘Mahdawi Tarbiyyah’ and child upbringing. Sis Fatema Masuma Alidina ended with pledge and a heartfelt Masaeb that still echoes in our ears.
The objective of this commemoration in its entirety is a reminder that our Imam (ATFS) exists and “Active Intedhar” should be practiced with a pledge that we raise our children preparing for the coming on Imam Mahdi (ATFS).

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER & FAREWELL FOR ZAKIRA MUBINA VIRJEE
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran, “If you are grateful, I will give you more” (14:7)
LMC held a volunteer appreciation dinner on Sunday 30th July 2023, about 250 volunteers attended.
The event was hosted by Sr. Fatma and Rabab. We started off with remembering the sacrifice of Aba Abdillah (as) followed by an enlightening talk by Sr. Fatim Somji, Our Chairlady who on behalf of every community member thanked the visiting Zakira Mubina and every volunteer who assisted in one way or the other during this Holy month of Aza.
We could not forget one of our Special Ladies, who not only took care of the Imambargah but assisted in so many ways that we do not know of – Marhuma Zahira bai Abdulrasul, who could not be with us this year but her services will never be forgotten. Al Fateha.
Such events bring us all together discussing various issues on the dinner table and we look forward to many more gatherings where we sit down as ONE community and enjoy a meal.
