THE WHISPERED PRAYERS/MUNAJAAT:
Munajaat is to talk secretly, to express, to long, to yearn ones needs and gratitude before Allah (swt) and sometimes it contains repentance from sins. With regards to one of the verses of the Holy Qur’an (9:78), Najwa from which Munajaat is derived, is interpreted as distance and for the sake of supplication, supplicants keep away from people.
The difference between dua and supplication is in the state of the worshiper when conversing with God. Making supplication in the dawn, calling God by the words compatible with the needs and the requests of the supplicant and having a humble heart are considered among the conditions and manners of supplication.
The fifteen whispered prayers from the Saheefa are among the famous supplications by which a supplicant not only supplicates for his personal problems, but the 4th Holy Imam draws the attention as to what the real needs of humans are for instance, problems related to one’s sins and the reason for committing them.
Using the right words of a divine Imam one learns the real praise of Allah (swt), avoids that which displeases Him and thus gets more closer to His pleasure. A few examples of some Munajaat will be discussed in the following pages
