MUNAJAAT at-TAIBEEN (MUNAJAAT OF THE REPENTERS)

Imam loves Allah (swt) the most and has His highest Ma’arifah. Being a ma’soom, he never sins yet we find in this Munajaat he is seeking forgiveness so desperately. This is because he feels deficient that he can’t worship Allah (swt) the way He deserves to be worshiped. He feels like a sinner for not being able to perform proper worship (in spite of the fact that his title is “Zayn al-Abideen”). The humility of our Aimmah was such that despite doing so much yet they feel they have not done anything.

Example of one such phrase in this Munajaat reads:

إلهِي – “My Lord!

يا أَمَلِي وَبُغْيَتِي – “O my hope and O my strong want!”

وَيا سُؤْلِي وَمُنْيَتِي – “O You who I ask and wish!

فَوَ عِزَّتِكَ ما أَجِدُ لِذُنُوبِي سِواكَ غافِراً – “By the sake of Your might and greatness, I don’t find any forgiver/concealer for my sins but You”.

وَلا أَرى لِكَسْرِي غَيْرَكَ جابِراً – “(O My Lord! Because of my sins I am all broken up) I don’t see (find) any mender for my brokenness other than You
