Dhul Qadah

MUNAJAAT al-MURIDEEN (MUNAJAAT OF THOSE WHO DESIRE/WANT)

This is the Munajaat of those who desire/seek to reach Allah (swt). Imam teaches us the type of desires we should have. After praising Allah (swt), Imam shows the two paths to reach Him, followed by giving the qualities of the murideen (those who desire to reach Him), and then he asks his desires from Allah (swt). The beautiful communication language used is that of true lovers!

– “Glory be for Allah (swt) who is free from all kinds of imperfections. He is capable of everything. How tight are the roads/paths for the one for whom You are not their guide!

– “How clear is the truth for the one whom You have guided on the right path”.

Now, Imam is going a step forward: إلهِي فاسْلُكْ بِنا سُبُلَ الْوُصُولِ إلَيْكَ

“(there are many paths; some paths take away from You and some paths reach You). So, my Lord, don’t only show me the guidance, but take us with You to the path which will make us reach You”.

(O my Lord) You make us travel on the path which is the closest to come to You”.

Here is a shortcut; the closest way of knowing God is the internal way (direct guidance from Allah (swt) – eg: torch-light). Imam is asking Allah (swt) to put inside our hearts His attributes (to be able to understand His beauty) and be the guide.

Allah (swt) is very near to us (closer than the jugular vein) but distanced because of the veils in our heart}. “O my Lord, make near to us what is far”.

وَسَهِّلَ عَلَيْنَا الْعَسِيرَ الشَّدِيدَ {because of looking at the creations, finding You is extremely difficult and it takes a lot of time; we get lost}. “And make easy for us what is extremely difficult.”

And for those who have suppressed their inner light, must be given the outer path to

reach Allah (swt): وَأَلْحِقْنا بِعِبادِكَ “(O my Lord) join us with Your servants”.

Among Your servants there are bad servants, good servants and some who are special servants (the Murideen – those who desired Allah (swt), took the inner path and are with HIM now. They always put You in front, in every moment and situation of their lives.
