Dhul Hijjah

MUNAJAAT al-MUHIBBEEN (MUNAJAAT OF THOSE WHO LOVE {ALLAH (swt)}):

To love Allah (swt), one needs to adopt/embrace the attributes of Allah (swt) i.e to be like Allah (swt); His nearness happens by manifesting His attributes {takhallaqu bi akhlaqi-Allah (swt)}. The Ahlulbayt (as) are closest to Allah (swt) because they manifested His attributes to the highest.

{Note: to be like Allah (swt) doesn’t mean to be eternal and uncreated like Him, rather to adopt some of His attributes}.

In this Munajaat, Imam Sajjad says:

 إلهِي مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي ذَاقَ حَلاوَةَ مَحَبَّتِكَ، فَرامَ مِنْكَ بَدَلاً؟ – “O my Lord, who is the one who tastes the sweetness of Your {Allah (swt)} love and then wants a substitute (in Your place)?

{After tasting the sweetness of His love, would one want anyone else!}

وَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي أَنِسَ بِقُرْبِكَ، فَابْتَغَى عَنْكَ حِوَلاً؟ – “O my Lord, who is the one who finds comfort with You (from Your closeness) and then he would want to change it (would he want to seek comfort elsewhere)?

Imam is teaching frequent communication with Allah (swt). In the loneliness of the hearts, one should talk to Him, “O my Lord, why am I feeling lonely when You are so close to me? Why am I feeling uncomfortable when You are the best comforter?

 إلهِي فَاجْعَلْنا مِمَّنِ اصْطَفَيْتَهُ لِقُرْبِكَ وَوِلايَتِكَ

O my Lord, make us among those whom You have chosen to be close to You and those whom You have chosen for (giving) Your authority (in other words, make me close to You and give me Your authority”).

The best interpretation of this phrase is, “O my Lord make us among those who are close to You and who will work to support the wilayah/authority of the Ahlulbayt (as)
