Knowledge on Hajj
Hajj is a significant pilgrimage and religious obligation for Muslims. It takes place in the Islamic month of Dhulhijja , the twelfth month of the lunar calendar. During Hajj, millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to perform a series of rituals that commemorate the life and actions of the Prophet Muhammad. The pilgrimage includes acts of devotion, such as circling the Kaaba, standing on the plains of Arafat, and throwing pebbles at pillars symbolizing the devil. Hajj is a time of spiritual reflection, unity, and seeking forgiveness, where believers strive for purification and a closer connection with God.
There are eight obligations to be fulfilled in Tawaf :
- Commence the Tawaf at Hajar-ul-Aswad (The Black Stone).
- The entire body of the pilgrim must pass in front of the entire Stone.
- Stop a little distance away from the Stone to ensure proper alignment.
- Each round of Tawaf must be completed at Hajar-ul-Aswad.
- In the last round, proceed a little further from the Stone for proper completion.
- The Holy Ka’ba must always be to the left of the pilgrim during Tawaf.
- Avoid facing, giving the back to, or turning right towards the Holy Ka’ba during Tawaf, as those distances covered will not count.
- Include Hijr Ismail in Tawaf by circling around it without entering or climbing its wall.
