Camper Diary
Day 5 started with classes facilitated by Professor Sheriff who taught us about Zanzibar. We learned about the Zanzibar culture and Stone Town history which made us understand our surroundings better.
Maalim Alijawad lead a lesson about communication and its’ three main components: the sender, the receiver and the message itself. The terrace, which accommodated 2 groups, was an amazing location to take in the lesson with the sound of the ocean wafting in.
Maalim Aliasgher Rajani explained the importance of having friends which is a topic that is much needed considering our age. He also explained Quranic verses and its’ effects on our day to day life.
We had water polo, cross team football tournaments and a blind obstacle course which helped us with our collaboration skills and the connection between team members.
We ended the day by celebrating Eid Mubahila, with a speech from Hussein Chagani. We also had recitations of Munajat and Quran from Abbas, Armaanally, Zain, Husseinali and Mahdi.
Mentor Diary
Mentor Diary – Wednesday, 12th July 2023
Today was a fun filled and fantasic day for the campers as they are beginning to settle in completely and absorb the environment with loads of fun.
The day started off with Fajr Salaat and Sheikh Shirazi’s enlightening words to brighten the morning.
The campers had their classes with Brother Ali Asghar who gave them a talk on choosing the right friends followed by a special guest, Professor Sheriff who taught them about the history of Zanzibar to increase their general knowledge about where they are.
This was followed by Lunch where the campers had a filling meal followed by Quran recitation with the mentors, where they practiced their tajweed and fluency.
The campers had an amazing and athletic afternoon with football, water polo, volleyball in the pool, and 2 obstacle courses one of which was blind-folded; this allowed them to test their communication and hearing skills.
After Maghribain Namaz there was a small jashan for Eid E Mubahila where many of the campers got opportunities to recite quran, manqabats and ziyarat.

Ayaanali Mahdi, inshaAllah you aew well enjoying camp.
Both me and your mum have been missing you tonnes. Eagerly awaiting your return with new knowledge and skills.
Your camp will be ending soon and I hope by now you have realised, how kind your mentors have been to have taken out time just for your development and growth.
Remember the best gift is the gift of time. Because we all have limited time on planet. When someone shares that with you, you have to appreciate and make sure it’s used in the best way.
And the best time to Appreciate is now. I the moment. So kindly do that.
Tuesday seems too far to me, however am happy for you.
May Almighty be with you all and take care.

Salamun alaikum,
My dearest Son Ayaanali Mahdi,
Today is your last day of the camp. However it’s not the end of the journey rather beginning where you will put into action all knowledge and skills gained over last ten days.
If you persevere and manage that, then surely it was worth ten days of your life.
Remember old habits die hard and it is very easy to fall back into your comfort zone. Make Niyyah and seek strength from Almighty to support your journey.
Last night we had leo installation and District Governor handed me international pin for you, for your service for less fortunate ones. It was very humbling moment for me. And the credit goes to you. Thank you. Surely you are Almightys lavish bounty to us Alhamdullilah.
Lastly remember to express your gratitude to all the mentors and organisers of the camp genuinely as you have felt and if there is any query, concern or feedback be honest and share it with your mentors, so many a times we carry feelings inside us due to failure of expressing it. And it just adds to our baggage. Right thing said at the right time in the right way does magic.
For sure we have missed you loads in last ten days it seems too long, and every breath has been longer than usual when you not around.
Eagerly looking forward to see you tomorrow inshaAllah.
